KATE ELLIS - Body Psychotherapy in Brighton

Individual Therapy

Working Together

While traditional "talk therapy" often stays from the neck up, Embodied Relational Therapy invites the whole of you into the room.

Depression, trauma, and grief are not just ideas; they are housed within our tissues, shaping how we move, breathe, and think. In an individual session, we don't just discuss your life - we pay attention to how your life is "happening" in the present moment.

How does this differ from standard psychotherapy?

In our sessions, we tune into two channels simultaneously: your thoughts and your physical sensations.

  • Tracking Vitality: Drawing on my background in one-to-one yoga and bodywork, I track the "energy" or "vitality" in the room. We notice the subtle shifts in your nervous system, the points where you might reflexively pull back for safety or move forward for connection.

  • The Relational "Lab": We use the relationship between us to gather information about your beliefs and habits.

  • Beyond Words: Sometimes, the body has a logic that words cannot reach. We allow your "body-process" to unfold at its own pace, helping you move from feeling "trapped" in old habits to feeling comfortable within your own skin.
